The St. Remy chalice and paten is a masterful replica of a piece of sacred goldsmithing.
A true work of art, the St. Remy Romanesque-style chalice and paten are entirely handcrafted from silver.
The outer bowl and circular base are hand-chiseled with arched motifs and decorated with filigree cloisonné enamel, while a knotted stem supports a ciborium-shaped bowl. The exquisite beauty of this piece of jewelry is enhanced by 32 natural gemstones set into it (amethysts, lapis lazuli, aventurine, and garnets).
Every part of the chalice and paten is handcrafted by skillfully blending the most ancient medieval goldsmithing traditions with the most sophisticated modern gilding techniques to ensure the piece closely resembles the original work of art and meets the criteria necessary for the artwork to increase in value over time.
The inner cup and the base have a high-gloss finish.
The St. Remy chalice and paten are replicas of the coronation chalice, which is part of the regalia of the Kingdom of France. The original is part of the treasury of Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral; it is housed at the Palais Tau (the episcopal palace adjacent to the cathedral) in the Musée de l’Oeuvre de Notre-Dame and is designated as a French historic monument.
