Humeral veil in Pietrobon wool (art.1323)
The humeral veil in Pietrobon wool is a precious liturgical vestment packaged in a soft fabric of lurex wool of color White .
The lurex is a particular type of laminated yarn in polyester fiber characterized by high tenacity. This fiber is metallized thanks to aluminum or silver vapors which thus give it greater brilliance and is then dyed. The term lurex refers to both the thread and the fabric obtained with this thread. In addition to wool, it can be knitted together with other natural fibers, such as silk and cotton.
Also called continence or vimpa , the humeral veil is one shawl rectangular in shape, with variable measures in length and width. Usually they are between 2.5 and 3 meters in length by 60 and 100 cm in width.
As tradition has it, this humeral veil is decorated with a refined embroidery in gold threads of the symbol of the Jhs enclosed in a host surrounded by a rays.
To further embellish the sacred mantle, the two ends are decorated with a gallon in lurex silk embroidered in gold thread with Renaissance motifs on a dark background. Rich fringes in gold threads embellish and close the two ends.
