Damask is a type of fabric operated with stylized or floral designs with a gloss-opaque effect. The shine of the satin part contrasts with the opacity of the one where the satin is upside down. In fact, the damascus does not have a right and a reverse, but usually the side where the drawing is formed by the texture is considered straight, so the bottom is shiny.
The planet is the sacred vestment worn by the priest to preside over the Eucharistic celebration. This liturgical vestment has the same function and the same origin as the priestly chasublate,but in a different form: the planet, in fact, simplifies the often too wide forms of the chasublate.
