Pietrobon Greek cross miter (art.66)
The Pietrobon Greek cross miter is a precious one bishop’s miter with rounded cusp made of lurex silk.
Its preciousness lies in the embroidery that adorns the whole headdress. The embroidery consists of crosses inscribed in rectangles. The center of each cross and the edges of the rectangles are embellished with gold and amber beads
The end of the infule bows is decorated with the same embroidery. The fringe, with bows in gold threads, attached to the infule with small golden globes, elegantly concludes the sacred headgear.
The warm hue golden background and the richness of the decoration spread over the entire fabric make the miter particularly solemn.
The lurex is a particular type of laminated yarn in polyester fiber characterized by high tenacity. This fiber is metallized thanks to aluminum or silver vapors which thus give it greater brilliance and is then dyed. The term lurex refers to both the thread and the fabric obtained with this thread. It can be knitted together with other natural fibers such as silk, wool.
