Pastoral “Lourdes” Maranatha Lab (art.26)
Maranatha Lab’s pastoral “Lourdes” is a precious episcopal sign made of two-tone brass with bronze carry-overs.
The pastoral (or vincastro)is, together with the pectoralcross, mitria andring,one of the episcopal insignia. It is worn by the Pope, cardinals, archbishops and bishops, but also by abbots and some prelates and canons.
The pastoral is a symbolic stick, curved and often richly decorated, used by the bishop in the most solemn pontificals and ceremonies. It symbolically represents episcopal dignity and authority.
This is a Marian episcopal sign, in factit has at the base two statues in silver finish of our Lady of Lourdes. The curved part is decorated with a stature of the Crucified Christ.
The knot is finely turned with a series of crypt throat, throat-topple and bull moldings.
