Madonna of Pompeii in resin (art. 5270B)
The Madonna of Pompeii in resin is a Marian statue hand-painted with oil paints.
The realization of the resin statues is entirely handmade and includes several phases. In the preliminary phase, the sketches of the works are made on paper, then the sculptors shape by hand the clay models, also called “souls”, which are preparatory to the creation of rubber molds.
The resin is added to a hardening liquid and poured manually into the molds, then waited for it to harden. With hardened resin, the molds are opened and the raw statues are extracted. This phase is followed by another that includes the cleaning of the sculptures from any residues of the processing, the repair and sanding by hand of the same.
We proceed with the oil decoration, after applying a primer, that is, a dense paint that provides the basis for the final decoration.
This Madonna is painted entirely by hand with oil paints; even the eyes are finely painted in oil.
The resin has qualities of resistance and lightness and also allows you to work with care the details for which face, hair, coat are finely detailed.
