The Dalmatic “Righteous”by Maranatha Lab is a sacred vestment for deacons hand-made in a soft lurex wool fabric.
The dalmatica is a wide tunic, long even below the knees, used in Dalmatia and then throughout the territory of the Roman Empire from the 2nd century. d. C., decorated along the edges with red bands with motifs of red circles. In the Latin liturgy it remained in use as a liturgical garment, wide and open on the sides, with wide sleeves and short, low-cut; it is proper to the deacon, but also worn, under the planet or the chasuble, by bishops and cardinal priests.
The lurex is a particular type of laminated yarn in polyester fiber characterized by high tenacity. This fiber is metallized thanks to aluminum or silver vapors which thus give it greater brilliance and is then dyed. The term lurex refers to both the thread and the fabric obtained with this thread. It can be knitted together with other natural fibers such as cotton, silk, wool.
Dalmatian is elegant and essential in lines, devoid of embroidery and decorations. Its peculiarity lies in the texture of the fabric that creates cruciform patterns in gold.
