Cross-Bib “Via” Maranatha Lab (art. 2677)

The cross-bib “Via” by Maranatha Lab is a precious bishop’s article made of two-tone silver.

The pectoral cross is, togetherwith the episcopal ring at mitria and pastoral, one of the episcopal insignia given to the bishop during the celebration of episcopal ordination. It can be made of silver or gold and represents the bishop’s fidelity to his diocese and, more generally, to the Church of Christ.

In addition to denoting the dignity of the wearer, the cross would have no value either of ornament or jewel, but of a precious symbol of faith and a visible and material sign of the bond with Christ.

The cross “Via” is a precious object of sacred artifice decorated with a hammered workmanship on which a stylized figure of the Crucified Christ is chiseled.

Hammering is a workmanship performed on cold metals with the hammer, in order to obtain an effect of pits and reliefs on the surface.
