Maranatha Lab “Olive” Bib Cross (art. 78)

The “Olive” bib cross by Maranatha Lab is a precious bishop’s article made of two-tone silver.

The pectoral cross is, togetherwith the episcopal ring at mitria and pastoral, one of the episcopal insignia given to the bishop during the celebration of episcopal ordination. It can be made of silver or gold and represents the bishop’s fidelity to his diocese and, more generally, to the Church of Christ.

In addition to denoting the dignity of the wearer, the cross would have no value either of ornament or jewel, but of a precious symbol of faith and a visible and material sign of the bond with Christ.

The “Olive” cross is a precious object of sacred orifice decorated with olive leaf motifs. Friezes are chiseled by hand.

Chiseling is a processing that is generally carried out on precious metals; it consists in the cold plastic deformation of the metal performed with the chisel. It produces a relief workmanship, made with engravings and changes.
